Professional Field
Lawyer, Accountant, Technician, Architect, Healthcare Professionals
Holding a Hong Kong practicing certificate and having performed duties for more than two years.
Emerging Industrial Professional Skills
Having professional skills in emerging industries, key technologies and critical products, with one of the following conditions:
1. Possessing over five years of practical experience in manufacturing or research and development, and holding a position equivalent to a manager or higher.
2. Having experience in patents or specialized technologies project with a proven track record of mass production.
3. Demonstrating special achievements in technology, as approved by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Photonics, Communication Technology, Information Software, Industrial, and other Professional Skills
Having achieved notable success in the fields of optoelectronics, communication technology, information software, industrial automation, material applications, advanced sensing, biotechnology, resource development, or energy conservation, and meeting one of the following conditions:
1. Holding a doctoral degree from a recognized university approved by the Ministry of Education, and having engaged in applied engineering and technical work in the fields for at least three years.
2. Graduating from a recognized university approved by the Ministry of Education and having worked for applied engineering and technology in the field for at least five years.
3. Having worked in applied engineering and technology in the field for at least ten years.
4. Demonstrating special achievements in the fields, as approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Special Achievements in the Fields of Transportation, Telecommunications, Meteorology, etc.
Having special achievements in fields such as highways, high-speed railways, metro systems, telecommunications, aviation, shipping, deep-sea construction, meteorology, or seismology, and meeting one of the following conditions:
1. Holding a doctoral degree from a recognized university approved by the Ministry of Education and having engaged in work in the fields for at least three years.
2. Holding a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university approved by the Ministry of Education and having worked in the fields for at least five years.
3. Having worked in the fields for at least ten years.
4. Demonstrating special achievements in the fields, as approved by the Ministry of Transportation.
Academic
Having professional research qualifications in academic fields, and having publications, inventions or research achievements that have been publicly presented in academic journals or publications, or recognized by world-renowned academic and research institutions for their special contributions.
Scientific
Having special achievements in specialized fields such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, earth sciences, biology, medicine, agriculture, engineering, humanities, or social sciences, and meeting one of the following conditions:
1. Having served as a professor or associate professor (researcher or associate researcher) at recognized universities or research institutions approved by the Ministry of Education, with at least three years of teaching or research experience in the field and outstanding publications within the last five years.
2. Holding a doctoral degree from recognized universities approved by the Ministry of Education, demonstrating profound research potential and innovative capabilities, and engaging in research work in the professional fields for at least three years.
Cultural and Artistic
1. Engaged in significant cultural and artistic work for an extended period, demonstrating outstanding skills and possessing works or supporting documents.
2. Made special contributions to the preservation and promotion of culture.
3. Made special contributions in promoting artistic activities or facilitating international cultural exchanges.
4. Achieved remarkable success in cultural endeavors for more than 15 years.
5. Received important cultural awards and honors domestically or internationally.
News Media
1. Made remarkable contributions to news, publishing, film, radio and television broadcasting, and popular music industries in Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macau.
2. Received prestigious awards in journalism, publishing, Golden Horse Awards, renowned international film festival awards, Golden Bell Awards, famous international broadcasting awards, Golden Melody Awards and popular international music awards.
3. Possesses expertise in the aforementioned fields, which are in demand in Taiwan, and has held relevant positions for at least three years with outstanding achievements.
Finance, Insurance, Securities, or Futures
Holding a bachelor’s degree or above from recognized universities approved by the Ministry of Education, and having more than ten years of exceptional achievements in the fields of finance, insurance, securities, or futures. The work undertaken in these fields is critically needed for the development of finance, insurance, securities, or futures in Taiwan, and the expertise is not easily cultivatable in the short term.
Transportation, Postal Services, Telecommunications, Meteorology, or Tourism
Holding a bachelor’s degree or above from recognized universities approved by the Ministry of Education, and having more than five years of experience in the fields of transportation, postal services, telecommunications, meteorology, or tourism. Demonstrating exceptional achievement and the expertise in the professional field is critically needed for the development of transportation in Taiwan.

Can family members apply for residency together?
Spouses and children under 18 years old can apply for residency permits together and become accompanying dependents of the main applicant.

When can I apply for permanent residency?
The criteria for applying for permanent residency are as follows:
(1) Residing continuously in Taiwan for a minimum of 1 year, with no more than 30 days of cumulative overseas travel during this period.
(2) Residing continuously in Taiwan for a minimum of 2 years, with an annual residence requirement of 270 days or more.

Can Hong Kong and Macau residents born in mainland China apply for Taiwan citizenship by professional?
Hong Kong and Macau residents born in mainland China are eligible to apply for permanent residency by professional. However, applicants need to provide one of the following documents:
(1) Cancellation of mainland household registration certificate authenticated by the mainland notary office.
(2) Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents (Home Return Permit).

Can I work in my original professional field in Taiwan?
Due to differences in professional systems between Taiwan and the applicant’s home country, the applicant may need to obtain the corresponding license or qualification certificate in Taiwan to engage in their original professional work.

Can my family and l join Taiwan National Health Insurance?
After obtaining a Taiwan resident certificate, the applicant and their spouse and children can participate in the National Health Insurance if they reside in Taiwan for at least 183 days.
06.
Can retired individuals apply for Taiwan Citizenship by Professional?
Retired individuals are currently not eligible for applying Taiwan citizenship by professional. They must provide a valid license and proof of current employment within the specified period.
