Requirements

Investment Amount: Establish or invest in an Taiwanese company with minimum capital of NTD 6 million.

Submit 3 annual financial audit reports verified by an accountant.
Applicants must hold citizenship only in Hong Kong or Macau, but not any other nationality.

01. When can I apply for permanent residency?

The eligibility criteria for applying for permanent residency are as follows:
(1) Residing continuously in Taiwan for a minimum of 1 year, with no more than 30 days of cumulative overseas travel during this period.
(2) Residing continuously in Taiwan for a minimum of 2 years, with an annual residence requirement of 270 days or more.

02. Can Hong Kong and Macau residents born in mainland China apply for Taiwan citizenship by investment?

Hong Kong and Macau residents born in mainland China are eligible to apply for Taiwan citizenship by investment. However, applicants need to provide one of the following documents:
(1) Cancellation of mainland household registration certificate authenticated by the mainland notary office.
(2) Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents (Home Return Permit).

03. Can I apply for Taiwan citizenship by purchasing real estate in Taiwan?

Investing in real estate in Taiwan does not qualify as an investment for Taiwan citizenship application.

04. Can all my family members join the National Health Insurance (NHI) system?

All family members including spouse and children can register in the National Health Insurance program upon living in Taiwan for 6 months (6 months of continuous residence in Taiwan or with one trip abroad not exceeding 30 days when the actual residency period of 6 months is reached after the days abroad have been deducted).

05. Do I need to apply for a work permit if I operate my own business in Taiwan?

If you involve in the management of the company, such as handling banking matters, negotiating externally on behalf of the company, etc., it falls under the category of “The Director or Manager of an Approved Business Invested or Established by Overseas Chinese or Foreigner”. In this case, it is necessary to apply for a work permit in the relevant category from the Ministry of Labor.
